Two Cottondale residents were arrested earlier this afternoon and booked into the Washington County Jail on drug charges.
Just before 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a blue colored pick-up truck travelling on State Rd. 77 near Nearing Hills Circle. The WCSO deputy made contact with the driver, 65-year-old Terry Gene Gilbert. A brief check of information revealed Gilbert’s license had been cancelled. Gilbert was detained for further investigation.
A Chipley Police Department issued K-9 was requested and deployed which gave a positive alert to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search resulted in deputies locating illegal items and a crystalized substance that later field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Gilbert was taken into custody and booked on charges of driving while license suspended or revoked, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A passenger in the vehicle, 43-year-old Bathina Michele Cauley was also arrested and booked on charges of possession of methamphetamine.
