Roy Lee Rogers 69, of Chipley, Florida went home to be with the Lord on July 26, 2024 at his residence.
Roy Lee Rogers has lived many lives in the span of one lifetime. The common tie through all is a selfless motivation to help others.
There aren’t many people in Washington County who haven’t eaten something Roy cooked over the past 50 years. A burger at a Vernon football game, fried mullet at a reunion, or cracklin bread at a bluegrass pickin’. Roy has fed the better part of two generations and never made a dime. He did it because it made him happy to help others.
By far, his greatest contribution, and what made him the proudest, is that he was a caring father figure to many more kids than just those who called him Daddy. He’s hauled kids to and from practices, treated friends of his kids as one of the family, and wholeheartedly accepted every child who entered his life. Roy Rogers was a hero to every kid who met him.
Roy Lee Rogers is preceded in death by parents Leo and Evie Dee Rogers. His brother David Sheldon Rogers. His sisters, Elaine Johns, and Judy Jenkins.
Roy is survived by his wife Melony Rogers. His sister Dottie Carrol, and his children: Michael (Tiffany) Rogers, Jason Rogers, Stephanie Suppes, and Taylor (Charles) Averys. Grandchildren: Paisleigh, Kacen, Oakley, Alayna, Sophie, Charlie, Delilah, and Eliza.
Roy will certainly be missed, but shouldn’t be mourned. He was ready to go home.
Service will be held 11 AM Monday, July 29, 2024 at Obert Funeral Home Chapel (731 Kirkland Road in Chipley, FL) with Bro. Tim Bush officiating. Interment will follow at Wausau Memorial Gardens in Chipley, FL. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.
