UPDATE- Washington County, Florida Sheriff’s Office Investigating Shooting Incident, Barricaded Suspect Takes His Own Life

UPDATE- The suspect in this case has been identified as 55-year-old Hueland Todd Brown. Brown retreated to a neighboring home where he barricaded himself inside the home. Several attempts were made by law enforcement over a 9-hour period of time to resolve the issue and negotiate a surrender. Attempts were unsuccessful and Brown took his own life.

Sheriff Crews would like to thank WCSO Staff, Washington County EMS, Bay County Sheriff’s Office, US Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force, the FL Dept of Corrections K-9 Teams and the surrounding communities for their support during this time of crisis for all involved.

The Washington County, Florida Sheriff’s Office is currently in the area of Shell Point Rd. in New Hope, Florida.

The WCSO telecommunications center received a 911 call at approximately 11:30pm in reference to a verbal dispute which later resulted in shots being fired.

Two victims in the case sustained injuries, but both are expected to make a full recovery. No fatalities resulted from this incident.

The suspect in the shooting is currently barricaded in a residence on Shell Point Rd.

Law Enforcement is still on scene and the investigation is still ongoing.
