Mary Ella Brett, age 77, of Bonifay, Florida passed away August 2, 2024, at Bonifay Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born October 24, 1946, in Holmes County Florida to the late Alvin Brett and Lila Hinson Brett. In addition to the parents, Mary was preceded in death by her four sisters, Wynell Whitehead and Harold, Yvonne Evans and Marlin, Fay Sallas and Don, and Ann Lipford.
Mary was a cherished member of the Bonifay community. She retired from Bonifay Elementary School, where she dedicated many years as a teacher’s aide, touching the lives of countless children with her kindness and patience.
Mary was an active participant in the Red Hat Society, enjoying the camaraderie and friendship of her fellow members. She also volunteered at Doctors Memorial Hospital, offering her time and compassion to those in need.
Known for her love of baking and candy-making, Mary delighted in sharing her sweet creations with friends and family. Her generosity and selflessness were evident in every aspect of her life, as she always put others first.
Ms. Brett is survived by a brother-in-law, Dois Lipford and Deloris; nieces and nephews, Sharlene Whitehead, Deanna Whitehead, Debbie Coatney and Rickey, Joey Evans and Carlene, Johnny Evans and Sherri, Frank Sallas and Jennifer, Jim Sallas and Brenda, Greg Sallas and Beverly, and David Lipford and Tracey; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, along with many special friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Bonifay First Assembly of God Church with Rev. John Chance officiating. Interment will follow in the Live Oak Assembly of God Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory in charge arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:00 PM Sunday at Bonifay First Assembly of God Church.
