Waynard M. Cary, 94 of Chipley, Florida Passes on July 31, 2024 at Northwest Florida Community Hospital

Waynard “Wayne” M. Cary (also known as Carey), a resident of Chipley, Florida went to be with the Lord on July 31, 2024 at Northwest Florida Community Hospital.  He was 94.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Chipley with Rev. Tim Brigham officiating.   Interment will follow in Shiloh Baptist Church cemetery, Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.  The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday morning at 10 am.  Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions can be made to Shiloh Baptist Church, 976 Shiloh Ln, Chipley, FL 32428 or Gideons International, P.O. Wayne Cary was born on May 27, 1930 to Marvin and Martha Little Cary in Lexington, Tennessee.   He played high school football and baseball.  After high school, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict era. He moved his family to Florida in the mid-1960s and spent more than 44 years as a real estate broker and car lot owner.  He loved rooting for the Florida State Seminoles.  He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.  He loved his family and he was proud of their accomplishments.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and his sixsiblings.  He is survived by his children, Brenda Whittington (Steve) of Chipley, Tracy Cary (Susan) of Alabaster, AL, Terry Carey (Deborah) of Dothan, AL, Jeffrey Carey (Chimene) of Dothan, AL, Laurie Cleveland (Joe) of Pace, FL, Jeremy Carey of Colorado Springs, CO; along with grandchildren Edward Laird (Allison), Cary Laird Butler (Austin), Jessica Glawson (Robbie), John Whittington (Leigh Ellen), Rachel Cary Simpson (Darren), Sara Cary Green (Jeremy), Emma Lang (Val), Eli Cary (Allison), Elliott Carey, Kylie Lewis, Winter Bruner, Emily Cleveland, Jonah Cleveland, Micah Cleveland, Beau Carey, Addison Carey, Matthew Carey, and Charleigh Carey and 11 great-grandchildren.  

The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff at Northwest Florida Community Hospital and especially to Patty McCartney, Wayne’s secretary, assistant and friend for more than 40 years.
