When Sheriff Edenfield took office in 2021, it was a priority of his to begin raising money for the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches (FSYR). He, along with other members of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, created the idea of hosting a golf tournament to raise money for the FSYR.
For the last four years, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has hosted Sheriff Edenfield’s Charity Golf Classic to raise money and support for the FSYR. Since the inception of the Charity Golf Classic, we have been able to raise and donate over $40,000 to the FSYR with nearly $18,000 being donated in 2023.
At this summer’s Florida Sheriff’s Association Summer Conference, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office accepted the 2024 Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches Golden Star Award for our agency’s commitment to supporting the youth in communities across Florida. It is an honor to support the mission of the Youth Ranches, and we couldn’t have done it without the help of our sponsors.
The FSYR support and develop young men and women who come from all different walks of life. They focus on building character and instilling a sense of responsibility and integrity in the lives of Florida youth by providing them with opportunities they may not otherwise have. The main source of funding for the Youth Ranches are donations from Florida residents, and fundraisers hosted by Sheriffs around the state.
“Our agency has supported the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranches for the last four years and will continue to do so through the Charity Golf Classic,” Sheriff Donnie Edenfield said. “The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office firmly supports and believes in the Youth Ranches’ mission to support youth, and we are honored and humbled to be able to play a small role in helping them do that.”
