On Wednesday, August 28, around 10:30 p.m., Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for faulty equipment.
When deputies made contact with the driver, Charles Edward Hall, they saw an open Budweiser can and a white Styrofoam cup in the cupholders.
When questioned, Hall stated these beverages belonged to the passenger. However, deputies observed Hall to exhibit several signs of impairment.
Deputies asked Hall to perform a series of field sobriety tests and he consented, but was unable to successfully perform them.
Hall was transferred to the Marianna Police Department for deputies to perform a Breath Alcohol Test, and his breath alcohol content was .177, more than twice the legal limit.
Hall was arrested and is being charged with Driving Under the Influence.
“Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be tolerated in Jackson County under any circumstances,” Sheriff Edenfield said. “If you need help with addiction or substance abuse, please reach out to Community Outreach Coordinator Stephanie Culbreath at (850) 693-3242.”
