WAVE’s Coach Amos Spires Named ‘Special Olympics Florida Coach of the Year 2023’, Invited to 2024 Special Olympics Florida Champions Gala

Coach Amos Spires, named the “Special Olympics Florida Coach of the Year 2023,” informed the Washington County, Florida School Board that they have been invited back to the 2024 Special Olympics Florida Champions Gala.

He provided a brief overview of the qualification process for the state competition and introduced Zay’Driohn Hudson, representing Washington County WAVE Athletics as the 2024 Athlete of the Year!

WAVE Special Olympics Athletes participated at the Florida State Games held in Orlando, Florida, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports on May 17th and 18th.  The following was recognized:

Zay’Driohn Hudson, Miranda Nowell, Jason Smith                            

Cody Baker attended as our Washington County WAVE Student Athlete Ambassador.
