On Friday, September 13, 2024 two Jackson County men were sentenced for their roles in the 2022 murder of Sonny Richard.

In January 2022, Gabriel Clemons, Devin Knight, and Ramaryia Keys were arrested in connection with the murder of Sonny Richard after an extensive investigation by Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Investigators. Richard’s body was located in a fire pit on Skyview Road in Marianna after he was murdered two days prior. His cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head.

Today, Clemons pled guilty to Second Degree Murder with a Weapon and was sentenced to life in prison.

Knight pled guilty to Second Degree Murder with a Weapon and Destruction of Evidence and will serve 50 years in prison.

The third defendant, Ramaryia Keys, also pled guilty to Second Degree Murder with a Weapon and Destruction of Evidence and will be sentenced at a later date.

“I am proud of the work done by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division in making sure that these three individuals pay for the crimes they committed,” Sheriff Edenfield said. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of not only Sonny Richard, but of Gabriel Clemons, Devin Knight and Ramaryia Keys as well.”
