James Louis ‘Larry’ Walker Jr., age 83, of Caryville, Florida passed away September 13, 2024, at Bonifay Nursing and Rehab Center in Bonifay, Florida. He was born April 18, 1941, in Phenix City, Alabama to the late James Louis Walker Sr. and Lillie Mae Sanders Walker.
Larry spent three years of his teenage life living in England, where he developed a curiosity for the world. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years, further instilling a deep sense of duty and patriotism.
Larry embarked on a career with the South Carolina Department of Transportation as a road design engineer, where he contributed his expertise for several years. After his time with the department, Larry pursued his true passion—golf. As a professional golf instructor, he dedicated his life to helping others hone their skills and deepen their love for the game. His joy in teaching golf was matched only by his joy in seeing others succeed.
In addition to his professional life, Larry was a proud and active member of several organizations, including the Masons, Shriners, and Eastern Star. His commitment to these groups reflected his values of brotherhood, charity, and service.
A man of deep faith, Larry was an active member of both First Baptist Bonifay and Caryville Baptist Church. Since 2012, he faithfully served as a Life Recovery Teacher, providing guidance and support to those in need, reflecting his compassion and desire to help others rebuild their lives.
Larry’s memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of service, passion for golf, and dedication to his faith and community will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
