Betty Lou Pettingill, age 71, of Bonifay, Florida passed away September 19, 2024, at Washington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Chipley, Florida. She was born August 1, 1953, in Bonifay, Florida to the late Ulysses Lee ‘U.L.’ Gay and Ada Beatrice Kemp Gay. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Pettingill, nine siblings, U.L. Gay Jr., Emory Gay, Patsy Peters, Carl Gay, Hazel Lewis, Thelma Short, Faye Jenkins, Robert Gay and Janet Harcus.
Ms. Pettingill is survived by two daughters, Shana Clemmons of Bonifay, FL and Trina Myrick of Slocomb, AL; eleven grandchildren, Leigha Griffin, Nicole Bell, Jennifer Rich, J.C. Cosson, Payton Cosson, Eli Cosson, Grayson Cosson, Bradley Music, Lacee Music, Michael Myrick, and Bryar Music; nine great-grandchildren, Isaiah Bell, William Cosson, Alayna Hope, Bristol Thomspon, Izzy Bell, Julian Rich, Ava Bell, Hadleigh Rich, and Kehlani Cosson; two brothers, Cary Gay and Nancy of Milton, FL and Pasco Gay and Margie of Bonifay, FL; one sister, Carolyn Morris of Sylva, NC; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Grace Fellowship Christian Church. Interment will follow in the New Effort Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 7 PM at Peel Funeral Home.
