On Sunday, Sept. 22, around 11:30 p.m., deputies were patrolling Highway 231 in Alford when they saw a vehicle parked at a gas pump at a business they knew to be closed. Deputies attempted to make contact with the driver but found him slumped over and initially unresponsive in the driver’s seat with the vehicle running.

After waking the driver, later identified as Zane Michael Davis, deputies asked him if he had any medical conditions, and he said no. Davis also declined medical attention. He then told deputies he had taken Delta 8 gummies.

Davis was asked to exit the vehicle to perform field sobriety exercises but was unable to successfully complete them. While searching Davis’ vehicle, deputies located an open baggie of THC-P infused gummies.

Davis was arrested and is being charged with Driving Under the Influence of a Chemical Substance.
