Greenhead, Florida Volunteer Fire Department Meets to Plan and Prepare for Helene on Tuesday, September 24, 2024

By | September 25, 2024

The volunteers at Greenhead, Florida Volunteer Fire Department held a special meeting on Tuesday evening, September 24, 2024 in order to plan and prepare for the arrival of Helene. We had a great turnout of current members, and future members! Our roster is growing!!

We discussed a long list of considerations such as safety, the latest storm track predictions, emergency communications, apparatus operations, downed trees & power-lines, motor vehicle accidents, flooding, evac shelters, FEMA supply distribution, locations of sandbags, and more.

We also ensured that the fuel and oil in our apparatus and power-tools (chainsaw) were topped off. And we ensured that they are fully operational.

We hope and pray that no one in our community needs our services, but GFD is well prepared to handle the potential emergency needs that might arise. Please keep safety at the forefront of every decision and action that you make.

And speaking of our “growing roster”, “yesterday” was the best time to join our ranks. Today is also a good day to join. Hit us up the next time you see us, or send us a message. We have our own email address: GreenheadFireDepartment@gmail.com

Must be 18y/o to join.
