James ‘Jim’ Andrew DeNicola, age 80 of Bonifay, Florida passed away September 29, 2024. He was born October 2, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Joseph Anthony DeNicola and Lucille Veronica Pape DeNicola.
Jim had a passion for gardening and took great pleasure in fixing anything that needed attention. He loved tinkering with heavy equipment and was known for his handy skills. Jim began his career as a long-haul trucker and later transitioned to working at power plants. He served at Mississippi Power’s Jackson Watson Power Plant before transferring to Tampa Electric in Tampa, Florida, and eventually to Florida Power Corporation in Crystal River, Florida, where he retired. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Stecoah, North Carolina where he worked at The Villages on Nantahala River, continuing to work there for several years. He was also a member of the Army Reserve from 1963 to 1969.
Jim attended Union Pentecostal Church and found joy in watching trains and visiting train sites, one of his favorite hobbies. He will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of tinkering, and his enthusiasm for trains.
Mr. DeNicola is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patricia ‘Pat’ DeNicola of Bonifay, FL; one sister, Anita Scruggs and husband Larry of Petal, MS; one brother, Paul DeNicola and wife Nita of Apex, NC; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 2, 2024, in the Peel Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12 to 1 PM at Peel Funeral Home. Memorialization will be by cremation with Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory in charge of arrangements.
