International Day of the Nacho Celebrated Annually on October 21

By | October 21, 2024

The International Day of the Nacho takes place every October 21.

On the International Day of the Nacho, those who are celebrating the tortilla-chip-and-cheese dish will likely be busy eating the crunchy treat that’s loved all over the world.

But, in between bites, it’s worth examining the history of the dish.

Nachos, it turns out, though they may seem like something that anyone could have invented, are actually new enough that it’s possible to trace their history to one particular man.

It and a three-day Nacho Fest was initiated in the 1990s in the United States and Mexico to commemorate the invention of nachos by Ignacio “Nacho” Anaya in 1943 at the Victory Club restaurant in Piedras Negras.

Javier’s Mexican Grill in downtown Chipley, Florida, at 1414 Main Street, just a mile north of I-10, invites you to join them in this day of celebration.
