On October 22, 2024, Holmes County, Florida Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a trespassing and criminal mischief complaint on Weeks Street. During the call, the complainant provided a photo of the vehicle involved in the incident.

Later that day, a deputy observed the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Highway 90. While making contact with the driver, the deputy noticed the passenger, later identified as Jeremy Carter, attempting to hide an open container of alcohol.

Carter, who was visibly intoxicated, became belligerent and interfered with the deputy’s duties. After being warned not to interfere, Carter’s behavior escalated. When ordered to exit the vehicle, he refused and fastened his seatbelt. The deputy deployed his taser, but Carter grabbed the device and knocked it out of the deputy’s hand. The deputy then physically removed Carter from the vehicle and placed him under arrest.

The driver admitted to being involved in the earlier incident and stated he was trying to drive his intoxicated brother home.

Jeremy Carter was charged with resisting arrest, obstructing a law enforcement officer, and battery on a law enforcement officer.
