On Monday, Oct. 28, around 9:30 p.m., deputies were patrolling Highway 71 near the Pilot Gas Station when they saw a vehicle with the incorrect license plate attached. The tag that was on the vehicle was previously assigned to Hansford Griffis, whom deputies determined to be the driver.
Further investigation showed that Griffis’ driver’s license has been suspended since 2008. It was also determined that Griffis is on active felony probation for Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement, and a condition of his probation is that he cannot operate a vehicle.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and arrested Griffis. Deputies conducted a search of Griffis’ person and located a glass smoking pipe with burnt methamphetamine residue in his pocket.
Griffis is being charged with Driving While License Suspended or Revoked Habitual Offender, Violation of Probation, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
