TSgt. Carl Jorgen Olsen, age 67, of Bonifay, Florida passed away November 2, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. He was born October 9, 1957, in Munich, Germany to the late Irving Olsen and Karin Olsen. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his sister, Joanne.
Carl is survived by his wife, Jane Olsen and two children, Karin Rysewyk and husband Shannon Rysewyk of Marinette, Wisconsin, Kathy Mims and husband Jonathon Mims of Bonifay, Florida; five grandchildren, Katelynn Mims, Richard Green and wife Sydney Green, Kylar Green, Jenna Mims, and Carl Green; three brothers, Leroy Olsen wife Billie Olsen, Irving Olsen, Harald Olsen and wife Ulrike Olsen; several nieces and nephews.
Carl joined the United States Air Force on August 4, 1976. He served until honorably discharged on August 31, 1996. During his time in active duty, he received Air Force Commendation Medal with 3 devices, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with 1 device, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award with 4 devices, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon with 1 device, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 6 devices, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 5 devices. Carl then went to work for Holmes County Correctional Institution and retired after 15 years.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 6, 2024, in the Peel Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with military honors will be held at Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 AM at Peel Funeral Home Chapel.
