Two men have been arrested on drug charges in Washington County.
Earlier this morning, while patrolling the area of Union Hill and Poll Rd., a Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy initiated a traffic stop. As deputies made contact with the occupants of the vehicle, they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
The driver, 37-year-old Vestus Jordan Mitchell was operating the vehicle without a valid license. An occupant of the vehicle, 41-year-old Gregory Paul Leitner was also detained for questioning.
A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted and resulted in deputies locating a green bag which contained a clear bulb smoking device with a crystalized substance that later field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Neither Mitchell nor Leitner claimed ownership of the illegal items. Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail.

Leitner on the charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and also introduction of contraband into a detention facility. During intake Leitner was found to be in possession of a metal vile located in his boots.
