Meeting in a workshop session Jan. 4th, members of the Chipley City Council agreed they will need to double down on reaching a decision as to the possible purchase of acreage that would increase the number of spray fields which are already needed to handle the increased level of effluent from the city’s sewer treatment plant.

The City received grant funding in the neighborhood of $2.2 million several years ago to purchase land and develop spray fields that meet all requirements but has yet to locate the needed acreage that meets all relevant specifications.  The City has already been given one extension on the availability of the grant funding.

Council members made it clear Thursday night that they want some commitment from the two landowners who have approached city officials about selling acreage to the City of Chipley.

Council members also discussed the following items that will be on their Jan. 9th Council Meeting Agenda:

  • Presentation of Christmas Decoration certificates to Zachary & Meghan Zadofsky, 634 3rd Street (Ward 1); Bryce Farrar, 643 5th Street (Ward 2); Margaret Driggers, 784 Gilbert Drive (Ward 3); Rachel Webb, 753 4th Street (Ward 4); and Sanford and Patricia Spitzer, 768. S. 3rd Street (Ward 5).
