Political season underway in Washington County ……….

Three Democratic candidates for the Florida 2nd District, U.S. Congress were in Chipley Monday night to introduce themselves.

Democratic candidates Bob Rackleff, Franklin Schuler, Jr., and Brandon Peters were guests of the Washington County Democratic Executive Committee Monday evening and spent their time at the Panhandle Shrine Club in Chipley mingling with those in attendance and speaking to the crowd.

 

Brandon Peters was the first to speak and pledged the following:

  •  To represent the individuals living in his district, refuse campaign contributions or favors from large corporations, their lobbyists, or the PACs representing them.
  •  Return government power to the people who keep our economy moving forward, take government away from large corporations and inefficient bureaucracies.
  •  Lower taxes on hardworking, middle-class Americans and eliminate loopholes that favor Wall Street, Big Banks, Big Telecom, Big Sugar and other special interest groups.
  •  Rely on proven economic policies rather than the empty theories embraced by large corporations for their own benefit.
  •  Make health care affordable for every American family by promoting private competition with optional government programs.
  •  Support startup companies and protect small businesses from inefficient regulations.
  •  Promote opportunity for all Americans equally by upholding the Constitution of the United States.

 

 

Bob Rackleff was next at the microphone and promised the following:

  •  To bring good jobs to where families live.
  •  Increase jobs with construction projects that target neglected areas.
  •  Expand affordable, decent health care.
  •  Improve access to quality nursing homes.
  •  Enhance benefits for Veterans
  •  Fight corruption and waste in Washington D.C.
  •  Work for the people, not Congressional leaders or special interests.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Franklin Shuler, Jr. (seated) was the final speaker of the evening the gave the following reasons for seeking the Congressional seat:

  •  Monitor and make sure all senior citizens are protected and cared for when in assisted living homes.
  •  Provide well-deserved care for all Veterans.
  •  Healthcare for all people.
  •  Education that serves the needs of the community and all its youth.
  •  Protect and held ensure right/opportunities for women.
  •  Help maintain family values.Add skill schools – for example, truck driving, commercial fishing, welding, masonry, carpentry, and cooking.
