Downtown Chipley, Florida Celebrates Holiday Weekend With Street-Side Bazaar on Saturday, June 30, 2018

With July 4 activities centered around Wednesday, July 4 this year, there is an extra-long, 10-day window for patriotic celebrations, including two full weekends, and on Saturday, June 30, 2018, Downtown Chipley enjoyed a street-side bazaar on Hwy 90, made up of local business owners, to kick off the holiday week.

‘When we heard about the opportunity to take part in this small celebration we took advantage of being able to see the people in downtown Chipley’, said Washington County Commissioner Todd Abbott, who used the festival to meet and greet locals along with his extended family.

‘It’s been hot but people have been friendly and we have had a ball’, said Abbott at the end of the day on Saturday, ‘and we will probably do this again if we are given the opportunity’.

Abbott, originally elected to the Washington County Board of County Commissioners in 2010, has been responsible, along with the other sitting Commissioners, for the fiscal improvements and paying down of debt for the County, something of which he is very proud.

‘You have to run a County like a business’, says Abbott, ‘and the County is just that- a very large business, with a lot of employees and many more people counting on it to do the right thing, be a good steward of it’s monies, and the prepare our County for the future’.

‘We have done just that, and we are very proud of our accomplishments over the past 8 years, and look forward to all is left to do to continue improving life in Washington County’.
