Mongoven Building, Alcohol Sales & Signage Regulation Hot Topics in Downtown Chipley, Florida- Interview with City Councilperson Tracy Andrews

By | August 18, 2018

‘Real Florida Magazine’ sat down with Chipley, Florida City Councilperson Tracy Andrews on Friday, August 17, 2018 to discuss the issues currently of note in downtown Chipley.

The City of Chipley recently gained the opportunity to decide the fate of the Mongoven Bank Building, a longtime eyesore and physical danger to downtown Chipley pedestrians.  Andrews addresses the current state of affairs of the building and some options for its disposition.

The limited sales of alcohol was also recently legislated for Chipley businesses, with new restaurants such as KC’s Pizza awaiting the opportunity to increase sales revenues through those sales.

Additionally, downtown businesses have experienced frustration at the inability to position directional signage to their locations, due to City ordinances, and this will be addressed by a newly formed task force and advisory committee for the City.

Less than a year into her first term as City Councilperson, Andrews has been successful at developing teamwork on the City Council, asking the tough questions and not settling for less than satisfactory results.
