Tallahassee, Fla. – On Monday, Commissioner Nicole “Nikki” Fried will join Lyft, Health in the Hood, and Bravo Supermarkets in Miami for “Grow & Give Back.”

The event will mark the official launch of the Lyft Grocery Access Program in Miami, which will provide subsidized grocery store Lyft rides for 130 low-income families struggling with food insecurity. Participants will also be able to plant and pick fresh fruits and vegetables from a local urban garden.

More than 700,000 people in South Florida are at risk of hunger, including more than 240,000 children. Fried has made addressing food insecurity and access to adequate nutrition key priorities of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
