Christmas Parade trophies presented at Chipley Council meeting ………………

The 1st place trophy went to the Chipley High School Theatre float.
The 2nd place trophy was presented to Kelli Cook.
The 3rd Place trophy was awarded to the Poplar Springs Queen’s float.

Heather Lopez, who headed up the 2019 Christmas Festival hosted Dec. 7th in Chipley, was on hand at Thursday night’s Chipley City Council meeting to present trophies and checks to the top three placing floats in this year’s Christmas Parade.   Along with congratulating the winners, Lopez thanked the council members for their ongoing support of the annual event.

Council members also took the following actions during the meeting:

  • Approved the minutes of the Sept. 9th Budget Workshop and the Nov. 12th Regular Meeting.
  • Approved the schedule of parades for 2020.
  • Approved Resolution 20-06 – a loan with Capital City Bank, $45,028.60 to purchase equipment for the Fire Department.
  • Approved Resolution 20-07 – increasing the 2019/2020 budget reflecting additional income.
  • Approved a Special Event Application – setting the 2020 Martin Luther King Parade for Jan. 20th at 10 a.m. 
  • Approved the reappointment of Angela Grantham to the Chipley Redevelopment Authority Board until 2024.

Council members also set a Special Meeting for Dec. 19th at 6 p.m. to deal with several issues concerning the Chipley Redevelopment Agency (CRA).
