One dead and one with serious injuries in Holmes County crash ………….

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports that an Enterprise, Alabama man died in a four-car crash in Holmes County Christmas afternoon and two Tennessee residents received serious injuries.

According to the FHP,  Robert Wayne Lupin, 72, of Enterprise was killed, Ruby Grizzell and Gary Grizzell of McMinnville, TN, received serious injuries, while Nicholas Coatney of Chipley and Jerry McGill of Panama City were not reported to have received injuries.

The FHP reports that Lupin was driving a Ford Mustang northbound on S.R. 79, passing the GMC pick-up driven by Coatney, in a no passing zone. 

The Toyota driven by Ruby Grizzell was traveling southbound with the Subaru driven by McGill behind the Toyota.

The Ford collided with the GMC.   As a result of the collisions, debris then struck the Subaru.  The collisions caused the Ford to overturn multiple times and while doing so, the driver was ejected.  

The Ford came to final rest on the west shoulder facing in a westerly direction.  The driver of the Ford came to final rest on the soutbound travel lane of S.R. 79.

The GCM came to a controlled stop on the east shoulder of S.R. 79 facing in a northerly direction.  The Toyota came to final rest on the west shoulder  of the highway facing in a southerly direction.

The FHP reports that the investigation is on-going at this time.
