Local businesses and non-profit organizations, along with private citizens, participated in donating to the annual ‘Back to School Supplies’ effort recently, followed by the disbursement of the supplies to school-age children at various public functions and events in advance of the 2022-2023 school year.
Seen below, Washington County, Florida Commissioner Todd Abbott donates to the ‘Stuff the Bus’ effort, to the benefit of multiple schools in the area.
‘This is an opportunity to give back to the community’, said Abbott, as seen with staffers from Northwest Florida Community Hospital and United Way on Friday, July 22, 2022, as he helped to distribute school supplies to community school children.
‘We are fortunate that Washington County School District is fiscally able to provide much of what is needed by these school children who are returning this Fall’, said Abbott, ‘but there are still some who fall through the cracks, or who have additional needs, and we are able to address those needs at events like this’.
Several other ‘Back to School’ events are planned, in anticipation of a return to school, and normalcy, in Northwest Florida.
