Washington County, Florida Emergency Management Advises of Traffic Concerns on Friday, March 1, 2024

Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Holmes and Washington counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.

Holmes County:

  • State Road (S.R.) 2 Resurfacing from Choctawhatchee River Bridge to County Road 177 and from Ten Mile Creek to the Jackson County Line – Drivers may encounter intermittent single-lane closures on S.R. 2, between Ten Mile Creek and the Jackson County line, Monday, March 4 through Saturday, March 9, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. In addition, lane closures will occur for bridge railing repairs at the Little Creek Bridge. Directional signage and traffic flaggers will be used to safely direct drivers through these work zones.
  • Thomas Drive Bridge Replacement over Open Creek – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, March 4 through Thursday, March 7 for construction activities.
  • S.R. 79 Coring Operations from Kansas Avenue to Wisconsin Avenue – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures Tuesday, March 5 and Wednesday, March 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for coring operations.

 Washington County:

  • U.S. 90 Resurfacing from the of the Four-Lane to the Jackson County Line – Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures Wednesday, March 6 through Friday, March 8 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for paving operations. Directional signage and traffic flaggers will be used to safely direct drivers through these work zones.
  • U.S. 90 Resurfacing from East of Holmes Creek Bridge to S.R. 277 – Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, March 4 through Friday, March 8 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for paving operations. Directional signage and traffic flaggers will be used to safely direct drivers through these work zones.

All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
