Philip R. Miner 87, of Chipley, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Philip was born on May 6, 1936, in Pensacola, Florida to William Miner and Clyde Lloyd. Philip married the love of his life, Norma McDaniel in 1958. Philip was a lifelong resident of the Florida panhandle and was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Chipley, Florida where he served in various areas over the years. Philip worked for the Florida Department of Transportation in Survey & Mapping for 36 years until his retirement in 1994. After retirement, he and Norma enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Philip was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed riding his tractor, gardening, working in the flower beds and sharing the fruits of his labor with others. He was a past member of the Chipley Garden Club. He loved his family dearly and very much enjoyed playing pranks on his children & grandchildren. Most importantly, to his children, he led his family by example. By putting God first in their family and living and loving by example. He will truly be missed.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents: William and Clyde Miner; brother Lloyd Miner.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years: Norma Miner of Chipley, Florida; daughter: Phoebe Miner (David Phillips) of Chipley sons: Bill Miner (Cindi) of Chipley, Florida; Dan Miner (Pam) of Chipley, Florida; 8 grandchildren; Samantha Skipper (Josh), Dani Miller (Travis), Candace Taylor (Kevin), Kayla Corbitt (Ray), Kristian Granberry, Kason Miner (Cadey), Kara Miner, Kyli Carter (Caleb). 15 great grandchildren; Wil Skipper, Ashtyn, Hailey & Anna Kate Miller, Carter & Channing Taylor, Landon, Lawson & Tinsley Corbitt, Mac Martin, Tanner Lunsford, Annastin & Laysen Miner, Colton Carter. Numerous nieces & nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held 2 PM Wednesday, April 3, 2024, Shiloh Baptist Church in Chipley, Florida with Bro. Tim Brigham officiating. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida in charge of the arrangements.
