Jackson County, Florida Sheriff’s Office Arrests Dexter Dutil and Bonnie Jean Barnes for Methamphetamine, Violation of Probation

On Sunday, April 21, 2024, around 11:30 p.m., deputies were patrolling Highway 71 and saw a white Toyota RAV-4 driving without tag lights. Deputies initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, and when they made contact with the driver, Dexter Dutil, he told deputies he did not have a valid driver’s license. During the initial interaction, deputies saw a glass smoking pipe lying on the driver’s dash area.

Dutil was asked to exit the vehicle and was handcuffed. During a search of Dutil’s person, deputies located a plastic baggie containing 14 grams of methamphetamine in his pocket, as well as several pills, later identified as Buprenorphine.

When deputies searched the vehicle, they located multiple items of drug paraphernalia, several clear plastic baggies containing more plastic baggies, an electronic scale, two metal bowls, and a large pair of tweezers.

Both Dutil and the passenger, Bonnie Jean Barnes, were arrested. Dutil is being charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving Without a License, Possession of a Controlled Substance Without a Prescription, and Violation of Probation. Barnes is being charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
