A Walton County Sheriff’s Office Deputy initiated a traffic stop for a moving violation on a vehicle driving northbound on 331 N.
The driver fled and turned onto State Line Road. The deputy continued to follow the suspect when the vehicle came to an abrupt stop causing the deputy to rearend the vehicle.
The driver, Drew Thames, 31, of Florala, Alabama attempted to flee on foot when he was quickly taken into custody.
Covington County, Alabama confirmed Thames has multiple active felony warrants.
Thames is also being charged with local charges in Walton County, including possession of narcotics, drug paraphernalia, fleeing and eluding, and felony battery.
