Florida is designating the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as foreign terrorist organizations.
Florida agencies are hereby directed to undertake all lawful measures to prevent unlawful activities by these organizations, including denying privileges or resources to anyone providing material support.
Gov. Ron DeSantis issued an executive order Monday evening designating the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Muslim Brotherhood as “foreign terrorist organizations.”
The order, which was posted on the governor’s social media accounts, stated that Florida would be designating the two organizations as terrorist groups due to alleged connections to anti-Israel groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, and other Palestinian groups.
CAIR, the nation’s largest Muslim rights organization in America, was previously designated as an unindicted co-conspirator in a terrorism financing case involving the Holy Land foundation. CAIR has disputed this as an “improper listing” in a “deeply flawed” trial by the Bush Administration.
