On February 10, 2025, a routine traffic stop by a Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy in the Big Boss store parking lot in Ponce de Leon proved that not everything in a cigarette pack is tobacco.
The driver, identified as April Siples of DeFuniak Springs, might’ve been hoping for a quick stop, but things took a turn when deputies conducted a probable cause search of her vehicle. Hidden inside a Newport cigarette pack—where most people keep menthols—were ecstasy pills. When asked about the pills, Siples didn’t beat around the bush and admitted they were hers.
Siples was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (ecstasy). She was transported to the Holmes County Jail.
