New Buc-ee’s Travel Center Officially Coming to Tallahassee, Florida

Posted on January 5, 2026

The Texas-based mega convenience store chain finalized a land purchase of more than 30 acres near the Interstate 10 and Capital Circle Northwest interchange late last year. The sale topped $10.7 million, according to county property records.

Plans call for a sprawling 75,000-square-foot travel center with a huge fuel area and plenty of parking – typical Buc-ee’s features that draw visitors from near and far. Officials from Leon County say the site could bring roughly 200 jobs to the area, including several paying six figures.

Construction is expected to break ground between January and March 2026, with a target opening sometime in mid-2027. The project still needs final site plan approval and a public hearing before work can begin.

Buc-ee’s has become known for its massive stores, clean restrooms, coffee and food offerings, and wide selection of snacks and road-trip essentials. This will mark one of the newest major travel stops along I-10 and only the third Buc-ee’s in Florida.

Residents and leaders say the store could boost tourism and tax revenue, though some neighbors have raised concerns about traffic and environmental impacts. Officials plan to address those issues as part of the review process.

Stay tuned for updates as this project moves from blueprint to reality on the edge of the capital city.
