Chipley Police Department Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest for Drug Possession and Driving Offenses
On February 13, 2025, while patrolling near 2nd Street and Watts Avenue, a Chipley Police officer observed a red Cadillac SRX fail to stop at a stop sign. The officer initiated a traffic stop and, upon checking the vehicle’s license plate, was advised by dispatch that the tag had an active Seize Tag Order.
The officer confirmed through dispatch that the driver had no valid Florida license and that his driving privileges were suspended indefinitely. Further investigation revealed a prior conviction for driving while license suspended or revoked (DWLSR). The driver was detained without incident.
As part of standard procedure, a tow truck was called, and an inventory of the vehicle was conducted. During this process, officers discovered a glass smoking pipe loaded with a crystal-like substance inside the driver’s side door panel. A field test of the substance returned positive for methamphetamine.
As a result of this traffic stop, the driver was charged with the following offenses:
• Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) – Florida Statute 893.13(6)(a)
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Florida Statute 893.147.1
• Driving While License Suspended or Revoked (Second or Subsequent Offense) – Florida Statute 322.34(2)(b)
The Chipley Police Department remains committed to keeping our roads safe and ensuring that individuals who disregard traffic laws and engage in illegal activity are held accountable.

He is awful young to have his drivers license suspended for LIFE. Boy he has done something bad to have that charge as for his age. Nothing surprises me nowadays
