Weather Service Advises Vigorous Disturbance To Bring Threat of Storms to South This Weekend

Posted on February 10, 2026

A vigorous disturbance will bring a threat of storms to the South this weekend.

A few storms could become strong to severe — but stable air from the cool Gulf of Mexico could be a limiting factor — which is pretty typical this time of the year.

However, heavy rain is also a threat, and obviously that will be impactful to outdoor events including Mardi Gras parades in NOLA this weekend. This is still several days out so timing details need to be ironed out, but residents in the South should pay attention to the forecast this weekend.

Either way this is a great opportunity to check and make sure your weather radio is working properly as we approach the Spring severe weather season. Stay tuned.
