A Holmes County, Florida man unintentionally set himself up for an arrest after sending a text message that led deputies straight to illegal drugs.
Deputies with the Holmes County, Florida Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for service regarding a subject needing to be removed and trespassed from a residence. While on scene, the homeowner received a text from the suspect, Christopher Newton, helpfully informing them that he had “left a baggie on the nightstand.”
With consent to search the room where Newton had been staying, deputies located a plastic bag containing a substance that tested positive for cocaine.
As a result, Newton was placed under arrest and charged with possession of cocaine.
Let this be a lesson—if you’re going to leave something behind, maybe don’t text about it!
