A traffic stop conducted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of a Calhoun County man on drug charges.
While on proactive patrol on Highway 90, a deputy observed a vehicle committing a traffic violation and attempted to conduct a stop. The vehicle pulled into the parking lot of a closed business near Auction Drive, where deputies made contact with the occupants.
During the course of the investigation, the JCSO K-9 Unit assisted, and deputies then conducted a search of the vehicle. During the search, deputies located a small bag of cocaine, weighing approximately 0.33 grams.
Shacarrio Poitier was arrested and charged with:
• Possession of Cocaine
Poitier was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility. The other individual in the vehicle was not charged and was released from the scene.
