Emergency Relocation Underway at Seacrest Wolf Preserve

Posted on March 15, 2026

Staff at the Seacrest Wolf Preserve in Chipley say they are continuing emergency efforts to relocate animals as the situation surrounding the facility unfolds.

In a message shared with the public, staff acknowledged the growing curiosity and concern from the community in recent days. They explained that updates have been limited because the team has been focused on the urgent task of relocating animals.

According to the preserve, the process is complex and requires constant planning, time and resources. Staff say moving animals can also be extremely stressful for them, which means each relocation must be carefully considered. Some placements will be temporary, while others may become permanent depending on what is best for each individual animal.

Workers say the process has also taken an emotional toll on the staff. Many employees have spent years caring for the wolves and other animals at the preserve and consider them part of their family.

Staff say they are doing their best to remain focused despite the emotional strain, noting that employees are not only facing the loss of their workplace but also saying goodbye to animals they have cared for throughout their lives.

Donations are still being accepted to help support the ongoing relocation efforts. Officials say the funds will be used for transportation, materials, veterinary care and other costs associated with safely moving and preparing the animals for their new homes.

As a nonprofit organization, leaders say their financial records are public and they aim to remain transparent about how donations are used.

Officials also confirmed that a legal battle connected to the situation is ongoing. They say the case involves several moving parts and possible outcomes that require constant adjustments.

Despite the uncertainty, staff say the animals remain their top priority.

They say every decision being made is focused on ensuring the wolves and other animals are placed in the safest and most appropriate environments possible.

Additional updates are expected once staff are able to regroup while relocation efforts continue.
