Washington County, Florida Fire Service Advises Fire Weather Watch Beginning Tuesday, April 7, 2026

Posted on April 6, 2026

FIRE WEATHER WATCH – STARTING TOMORROW EVENING (4/7)

Here’s what we’re looking at:

Winds: 15–20 MPH with gusts up to 25–30 MPH

Humidity: 22–28% (that’s dry, dry)

What does that mean?

Fires can start much easier

Fires can spread FAST and unpredictably

We strongly discourage ANY outdoor burning during this time.

Yes… even “just a small burn pile” or “it’ll only take a minute to burn this pile.” (Yes, we’ve heard them all before)

It only takes one spark + wind + dry air = a long day for us and a bad day for you.

Help us out by:

• Holding off on burning

• Properly disposing of cigarettes

• Keeping equipment that can spark away from dry grass

Stay safe, stay smart, and help us keep Washington County safe.
