National Weather Service Advises Red Flag Warning in Effect for Eastern Florida Panhandle

Posted on April 8, 2026

From the National Weather Service in Tallahassee:

A Red Flag Warning is in effect late this morning through this evening for the eastern Florida Panhandle and portions of southwest Georgia. Within the warning area, relative humidity values between 22-28% this afternoon and NE winds of 15 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 25-30 mph are expected.

Due to current drought conditions and unsubstantial rain, fires that may develop will have the potential to spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is highly discouraged.

See weather graphic to see how this affects Jackson County.
