George Clayton Owens Wins Decisive Re-Election as Trustee for District 6 of West Florida Electric Cooperative

Posted on April 30, 2026

George Clayton Owens has secured re-election as Trustee for District 6 of West Florida Electric Cooperative (WFEC).

District 6 Trustee serves members in Washington County, although the election is not single-member district, and is determined by voters in Holmes, Washington, Calhoun and Jackson County, Florida.

The cooperative will officially announce the results (following the recently concluded annual vote-by-mail election) which had a deadline of April 15, 2026, at the annual meeting on Saturday, April 25, 2026 in Graceville, Florida.

Owens ran and received strong member support, continuing his 12-year tenure on the board.

A lifelong resident of Chipley and member of WFEC for more than 48 years, Owens has been a dedicated advocate for rural electric service reliability, fiscal responsibility, and member-focused governance.

He holds advanced certifications including the Cooperative Director Certificate, Board Leadership Certificate, and Director Gold Credential. Owens previously worked as an environmentalist with the Florida Department of Agriculture and now operates a family farm featuring an award-winning silvopasture system.

His community service includes leadership roles with 4-H, the Washington County Cattlemen’s Association, soil and water conservation boards, and local church initiatives.

“West Florida Electric Cooperative ensures consistent, affordable power for our rural homes and businesses,” Owens said in recent remarks.

“I’m honored to continue representing District 6 members and delivering prudent stewardship of cooperative resources”.

The election results will be formally recognized at WFEC’s Annual Meeting on April 25, 2026, in Graceville.

Owens’ re-election underscores member confidence in experienced leadership at the Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
