The next 3 days will feature warm/dry weather Monday-Tuesday with increasing (beneficial) rain chances ahead of a front on Wednesday.
Thunderstorm potential also jumps – some may be strong to locally severe.
A solid signal is showing up for beneficial rain Friday night, May 1, 2026 into early Saturday morning, May 2, 2026, right across the areas that need it the most.
We’re talking about the potential for a soaking rain, not just a quick hit-or-miss shower. With how dry it’s been, this kind of setup could make a real dent (or at least ding) in the drought.
A couple of key points:
Severe weather risk (as of now): Trending lower based on better instability near the coast and offshore
Timing: Late Friday → early Saturday
Big picture: This looks more like a rainmaker than a major severe threat…
That said…it’s still several days out. We’ll keep a close eye on it this week as new data arrives. Any shift north increases the severe potential. ![]()
But – if you’ve been doing a rain dance…it might finally pay off.
