What Happens When Cinco de Mayo Falls on Taco Tuesday? Coincidental? You’ll Have to Decide

Posted on May 2, 2026

Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, is not Mexican Independence Day, a popular misconception.

Cinco de Mayo is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican Army’s May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War, as we have been advised by Javier’s Mexican Grill in Chipley, Florida.

This year, Cinco de Mayo falls on Tuesday, May 5 in 2026, is also known as Battle of Puebla Day, which is, coincidentally, also ‘Taco Tuesday’ at Javier’s Mexican Grill in Chipley, Florida, providing a double reason for celebration, eating great food and enjoying camaraderie in our communities.

Javier’s Mexican Grill in Chipley, Florida says that as far as they are concerned, it is a great day to celebrate.

To that end, Javier’s is offering, for those dining-in only, $2 Street Tacos, $1.25 Regular Tacos, $4 Margaritas, $2 Bottle Beer and $3 Draft Beer, plus free shots- all dine-in only, please.
