George Clayton Owens recently reached out to the Northwest Florida community to say ‘thanks’ for his victory in his bid for re-election to a 5th term as Trustee for District 6 of West Florida Electric Cooperative (WFECA).
The WFECA District 6 Trustee serves members in Washington County, although the election is not single-member district, and is determined by voters in Holmes, Washington, Calhoun and Jackson County, Florida.
The cooperative officially announced the results at the annual meeting on Saturday, April 25, 2026 in Graceville, Florida.
A lifelong resident of Chipley and member of WFEC for more than 48 years, Owens ran and received strong member support, continuing his tenure on the board as a dedicated advocate for rural electric service reliability, fiscal responsibility, and member-focused governance.
He holds advanced certifications including the Cooperative Director Certificate, Board Leadership Certificate, and Director Gold Credential. Owens previously worked as an environmentalist with the Florida Department of Agriculture and now operates a family farm featuring an award-winning silvopasture system.
His community service includes leadership roles with 4-H, the Washington County Cattlemen’s Association, soil and water conservation boards, and local church initiatives.
“West Florida Electric Cooperative ensures consistent, affordable power for our rural homes and businesses,” Owens said in recent remarks.
“I’m honored to continue representing District 6 members and delivering prudent stewardship of cooperative resources”.
The election results were formally recognized at WFEC’s Annual Meeting on April 25, 2026, in Graceville.
Owens’ re-election underscores member confidence in experienced leadership at the Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
