Alton “Al” Kent Jr., 79 of Cottondale, Florida went home to be with the Lord on May 2, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Al was born on March 8, 1947, in Marianna, Florida, to Alton and Annie Kent. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, he faithfully attended The Potter’s House. He proudly served in the United States Army and dedicated his time volunteering at the Chipola Ministry food pantry. Al had a passion for carpentry and was truly a man of many trades, always willing to help his grandchildren with their projects. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Alton and Annie Kent; 11 siblings.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years: Ruby Kent of Cottondale, FL; daughters: Pamela Eldridge (David) of Alford, FL, Michelle Stephens of Alford, FL, Tracy Kent of Cottondale, FL; son: Jonathan Rister (Sue) of Marianna, FL; grandchildren: Joshua Eldridge (Ashley), Kent Phillips, Kelsie Rister; great grandchild: Logan Eldridge; brother-in-law: Arthur Granberry (Kim) of Jacksonville, FL.
Graveside service will be held 10 AM Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at Round Lake Cemetery in Alford, Florida with Bro. Wendell Hayes officiating. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.
