Mary Frances Coker, age 82, of Slocomb, Alabama, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
Born on October 2, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Earnest and Lucy Clyo Jones Boyett. Mary Frances attended Fadette School in Fadette, Alabama, and devoted her life to her family and her work. She married the love of her life, Johnnie Earl Coker, and together they built a loving home. She worked for more than 20 years at Slocomb Industries and later continued her career with Sony, where she remained for over 20 years until her retirement.
Mary Frances was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who found great joy in staying active and engaged with others. She enjoyed sewing, upholstery, fishing, and especially playing Rummikub with her many friends at the East Geneva County Senior Center, where she was not only an active member but also served on the board. She was a faithful, long-time member of Corinth Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Earl Coker; one great-grandson, Grayson Gaitten; and four siblings, Houston Boyett, Daniel “Bo” Boyett, Walter Boyett, and Dorothy Boyette Cochrane.
She is survived by her two children, Charles (Lori) Coker and Jo Ellen (Carl) Steen; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Justin (Brittney) Coker and children Lexis and Logan, Travis (Hadley) Coker and children Charlene and Raegan, Tate (Kim) Coker and child Alaina, Elizabeth (Kayne) Gaitten and child Hudson, and Madison (SSG Robert Anthony) Parrish; four siblings, Joyce Boyette Patterson, Helen Boyette Scarborough, Robert Earl Boyett, and Sarah Boyette Mothershed along with a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at James & Lipford Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel, with Reverend David Zorn officiating. Interment will follow in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery in Fadette, Alabama, for close family members only, with James & Lipford Funeral Home of Graceville directing.
