Dell S. Gilbert, 73, of Cottondale, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on June 9, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Dell was born on August 12, 1952, in Bartow, Florida, to Pick Sansom and Bonnie Chason. A lifelong resident of the Florida Panhandle, Dell dedicated her life to caring for others through her work as a registered nurse. Dell loved spending time outdoors and was an avid deer hunter. She especially enjoyed riding through the woods on her golf cart, searching for deer tracks and taking in the beauty of nature. She also found great joy in the kitchen, where she was known for baking delicious pies and cakes to share with family and friends. Dell took pride in her beautiful flowers around the yard. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Pick and Bonnie Sansom; brother: Ricky Sansom; sister: Diann Chancey.
She is survived by her husband: Terry Gilbert of Cottondale, FL; daughter: Lacey Diann Gibson of Cottondale, FL; stepdaughters: Gabbie Wilkes of Cottondale, FL, Tina Gilbert of Cottondale, FL; brother: Pick Sansom of Mulberry, FL; sisters: Wanda Dimare of Lakeland, FL, Jolinda Crane of Lakeland, FL; grandchild: Levi Gilbert; and several step grandchildren; several special nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Cottondale, Florida with Pastor Shane Obert officiating. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida in charge of arrangements.
