Beverly June Mizell, 94 of Chipley, Florida Passes on July 20, 2026

Beverly June Mizell, 94, of Chipley, Florida, passed from this life on July 20, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

June was born on June 6, 1932 in Barnesville, Georgia, to Morgan Goodrum Howard and Veva Leota Mink. She was an avid dancer whose love of dance spanned her entire life. After high school, she studied at the Ebsen School of Dance and danced with Buddy Ebsen.

She also studied at the American School of Ballet and danced at New York City’s historic Roxy Theatre as an early member of the Roxyettes, the dance troupe that later became the world-famous Rockettes. Continuing her love of dance she studied ballet at Mississippi State College for Women.

As the devoted wife of a military serviceman, she supported her husband throughout his career while also working at Arlington National Cemetery. When her daughters were young, she found great joy in teaching tap and ballet to local children, sharing her passion for dance with the next generation.She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

She was preceded in death by her parents: Morgan and Veva Howard; brother: Sonny Howard; sister: Joan Howard Griffin.

She is survived by her husband of 74 years: Lt Colonel (Ret.) John J Mizell Jr of Chipley, Florida; son: Joe Mizell (Petie) of St. Petersburg, Florida; daughters: Belinda Mizell of Tallahassee, Florida, Dr. Barbara Mizell (Ed) of Miramar Beach, Florida, Amanda Jendersee (Brian) of Clermont, Florida; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Obert Funeral Home and Whispering Pines Crematory of Chipley, Florida in charge of arrangements.
