On March 29, 2025, an officer with the Chipley Police Department conducted a traffic stop after observing a traffic infraction. The driver, identified as Bobby Earl Lee, was pulled over for further investigation.
During the stop, the officer noticed what appeared to be illegal narcotics inside an open cigarette pack. When questioned, Lee became defensive and attempted to leave the scene, discarding the suspected narcotics in the process. Officers promptly located the narcotics and attempted to detain Lee.
Lee then fled on foot, leading officers on a brief pursuit. He was quickly apprehended and taken into custody without further incident.
Notably, this is Lee’s second arrest this year under nearly identical circumstances. In January, he faced similar charges following a separate traffic stop where officers also discovered illegal narcotics.
Bobby Earl Lee was transported to the Washington County Jail and charged with the following offenses:
• Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) – Florida Statute 893.13.6a
• Resisting an Officer Without Violence – Florida Statute 843.02
• Tampering with Evidence – Florida Statute 918.13.1a
The Chipley Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety of our community and will continue to actively pursue those who engage in illegal activity.
